Shalom can be translated as “peace”, but it is a word that Jews use at the same time as a greeting and a as a wish: “May you find peace”. And this is exactly what pushes three elderly Italian Jewish brothers to return to Tuscany, after seventy years, looking for the cave where they were hidden during fascism.A journey through memory, and a true story, told by those who lived it.
Presented by the Director of the MEIS, Simonetta Della Seta, and by the President of Ferrara Contemporary History Institute, Anna Quarzi

MEIS Garden of Questions is included in “Interno Verde” program, the event that opens to the public the most evocative and curious gardens in the heart of the city. It will be possible to walk along the paths of laurel, myrtle, thyme, lavender and marjoram (the aromas used for the Havdalah, the prayer that ends Shabbat). The small labyrinth, with its information panels, teaches basic notions about the Jewish food laws and shows the ingredients of some kosher recipes.
This year seven new trees belonging to the biblical species will be planted in the Garden of Questions to celebrate the 70th birthday of the State of Israel.
For the public of “Interno Verde”, free visit to the Garden of Questions and discounted admission (€ 8.00) to the exhibition Jews, an Italian Story. The First Thousand Years and to the multimedia show With the Eyes of the Italian Jews

Jewish Italian Partisans, Young Resistance Fighters

They were youths, some studying at university, others still at their school desks. They were interested in love letters, writing short stories, going out with friends.
