Online event, March 12

After five years, the #ItaliaEbraica project is renewed and becomes Jewish Italy around the world. Each month we will get to know a new museum and discover the paths that connect distant places with our ‘Jewish Italy.’
Each International Jewish Museum will present online on Zoom an object or a masterpiece from its collection that tells a part of Italian history.

The fifth meeting will be held on zoom on Thursday, March 12th at 6:30 (Italian time) and it will be dedicated to the presentation of the U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art in Jerusalem, which was established in 1981 as the flagship of the Italian community in Israel.

The museum is home to over 3000 objects, representing most of Italy’s communities. The objects – Judaica, everyday items, documents and art – date from the end of the 14th century to present day and reflect the lives of Italian Jewry- their aspirations, dreams and beliefs.

The museum also exhibits contemporary art in dialog with its treasures. This conversation gives new meaning and depth to the objects on display, both ancient and new. The museum is, to this day, the link between the Israeli audience and the Italian community in Israel, and serve as a place of knowledge, memory and education for the values and art of Italian Jewry .

Greetings from Amedeo Spagnoletto – Director of MEIS
