The 20th century in one room

Educational and exhibition space

It’s an exhibition, or perhaps not… It’s an educational workshop, but doesn’t seem like one…

MEIS has inaugurated The 20th century in one room, a new space for students of all ages, but also anyone who wants to take a peek inside. The room explores the history of Italian Jews in the 20th century through objects, documents, works of art, photographs and family heirlooms.

The exhibition is structured around seven stories from the 20th century, represented by seven men and women who lived through it: artists, entrepreneurs, patriots and witnesses to the Shoah. Each of them guards a piece of a complex mosaic whose reconstruction is entrusted to the students who visit the room and immerse themselves in the work of the historian and museum curator.

Can a hundred years really fit into a single room? To find out, we look forward to welcoming you and your classes to the MEIS!

Realized with the support of the Fondazione Guglielmo De Levy
